Ever since the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, recommended the Turkish TV show Diriliş: Ertuğrul to the Pakistani masses so they can “reconnect with their roots” it has been the one thing everyone is talking about.

The PTV dubbed Urdu version of the show has brought in millions of viewers over the course of Ramzan alone.
Haven’t seen it yet? Here’s how you can watch Diriliş: Ertuğrul in Pakistan for free!
Pakistanis have always received Turkish content with enthusiasm. We’ve had dubbed versions of their shows for years now. What sets this one apart though, is the fact that it’s based on Islamic History. It’s something we all should learn about and we can all connect through it.
After the show’s massive success here, infamous Pakistani writer Khalil-ur-Rehman announced that he’s working on his own historic TV show which would be quite similar to Ertuğrul.

The writer said while speaking to the media that he’s decided to make the serial about an Islamic hero. Adding that right now he’s in the research phase, reading books and gathering all the information and will begin to write within the week.
He also shared that he’ll be working with the team of the TV show Merey Pass Tum Ho and is planning on casting Humayun Saeed as the lead in this show too. He revealed that he’s been wanting to do something like this with Humayun for the past 12 years, but their limited resources didn’t allow it.

Humayun Saeed said that he’s been thinking about making a series like this for 2 years, as he first watched Ertuğrul 2 years ago and was very inspired by it. He hopes that their version of an Islamic show would be the “grandest drama ever produced in Pakistan”
What do you think about this decision? Would this be a TV show you’d watch? And if you were to suggest an Islamic Hero for this story to be based on, who’d you pick?
