Humsafar is one of those shows that everyone loved when it first aired. Surprisingly, the show seemed to be ahead of its time. It initially aired in 2011 but it can still compete with the shows today – almost a decade later.
Humsafar follows the story of Khirad (Mahira Khan), a girl from a small town who marries Asher (Fawad Khan), and her life gets turned upside down. The show chronicles how she deals with this new life and the issues that come with it.
Zindagi Gulzar Hai
Whenever we talk about Pakistani dramas, this one has to get an honourable mention. This drama was one that no one saw coming. It had a different story and was unpredictable throughout! It remains a show that you can watch over and over again and love it the same every time.
This show is portrayed through the eyes of Kashaf (Sanam Saeed), a woman who’s very headstrong and knows what she wants in life. She falls in love with Zaroon (Fawad Khan) and has to figure out how to navigate these new feelings and change her life plans. Will Zaroon fit in Kashafs life without her having to change everything she’s ever planned?
This drama is a little different than the rest. The show is set in the 1980s. It is a story about two cousins Shanno (Mahira Khan) and Khalil (Adnan Malik) who had been betrothed at birth. They grow up separately and their parents break their engagement but the second they see each other when they’re older, they fall in love.
The series revolves around their journey as they try to defy all odds to end up together again.
It’s amazing to see a platform like Netflix stream TV shows from Pakistan. It is slowly bringing back a lot of shows we had long forgotten about and has pulled in a whole new audience that hadn’t heard of these shows when they originally aired on TV!
