The Prophet (SAW) said, “Give Sadaqah without delay, for it stands in the way of Calamity”.
Which calamity in today’s world would be greater than the deadly virus that has made human beings confined to their homes? A calamity that has disconnected families and neighbors. A calamity which doesn’t allow celebrations or even mourning together. The spread of coronavirus in Pakistan and the resulting lockdown has caused disturbing effects on lives of people. The lower middle and poor class are the ones who are suffering the most. As Ramadan is approaching, this is ideal time for us to step forward, put political differences aside and participate in the biggest charity struggle of our government.
Today, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan will be seen on various news channels in a Telethon which aims at raising funds for poor affected by lockdown in Pakistan. Apart from a large number of celebrities and news anchors who will be conducting live transmissions, Maulana Tariq Jameel will make special dua for Pakistanis and Muslims around the globe. Senator Faisal Javed from PTI has requested Pakistanis around the globe to participate in this Telethon and donate generously towards the fund.
Prime Minister will appear on many channels including PTV Home, Hum TV, ARY Digital, Express Entertainment, Dunya News, Geo Entertainment, Samaa TV, Hum News, Geo News, Express News, Bol News, ARY News, PTV News and others to appeal for funds.
Pakistanis have been witnessing the unprecedented distribution of Ehsaas funds nationwide. Millions of poor families have already benefited from the program where one member from each poor family is entitled to receive Rs. 12000 as aid from the federal government.

However, given the continued smart lockdown across the country and falling demand for consumption, the daily wagers and poor families in Pakistan are bound to be struck the most with devastation. The economic conditions of our country does not allow government to stretch beyond its capacity to save both healthcare and poor population.
Therefore, we need to contribute or reach out to those who can contribute to the Ehsaas telethon. Let’s hope and pray that with support of all Pakistanis, government is able to not only collect funds but effectively distribute it among the needy.
Update: The Ehsaas Telethon collected more than Rs. 550 million in a three hour program. This takes the total tally of PM Imran Khan’s Ehsaas Relief Fund to Rs. 2,765,980,593.
