Emergency Medical Supplies Reach Quetta


Due to the shortage of essential medical supplies in Quetta, protests and demonstrations were held in Quetta yesterday. The pictures and videos were all over the media as doctors refused to attend Corona patients unless they are fully equipped. Young Doctors Association have extended the call for protests till the arrival of medical supplies and personal protection equipment (PPE).

However, yesterday both Pakistan Army and Chinese Government have swung into action to help doctors and paramedical staff in the province. Medical supplies are dispatched on emergency basis. The first plane with 11,000 pounds of medical supplies dedicated to the hospitals in Quetta has already reached the provincial capital.

According to the details Pakistan Air Force C-130 plane carrying the Chinese supplies reached Quetta on Monday. Chinese medical supplies are donated by Meteoro­logical Construction Corporation (MCC) and it was received by the National Disaster Management Authority in Islamabad the other day for onward dispatch to Quetta.

Vice President MCC Resource Development Corporation Private Limited (MDRL) — which is also involved in the Saindak Copper-Cum-Gold Project, handed over the medical supplies for Balochistan to Ataullah Langove, who holds a senior post in the provincial disaster management authority

Moreover, COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa has also directed Pakistan Army to provide PPE and medical supplies to the province on urgent basis to help the frontline doctors and paramedical staff. The supplies will be used to help doctors in effectively treating the COVID19 patients in the province. It was confirmed in a tweet by DGISPR.
